Challenge
The Royal Bank of Canada commissioned our client to design, produce and install a bespoke office furniture solution for its 30,000 sq ft flagship UK headquarters in London. The high profile nature of the project meant that delivery and turnaround leadtimes were highly demanding. The initial requirement was for a wide range of samples to be organised within three days for initial approval, as well as potential last minute changes to the ongoing design specification. The production stage would then require more than 250 desks and work tops, in 15 different designs. Starbank had to produce all the components within a short lead time, enabling the client to complete the installation process.
Solution
Starbank used its manufacturing expertise to deliver a bespoke package of products, which has so far included more than 500 door sets, 200 IPS panel sets, arange of worktops and shelving across three wards, as well as bespoke nurses’ stations. These products include a number of high performance fire rated doors and medical standard, antibacterial worktops designed to cope with the pressures of such a demanding environment.
Starbank utilised its cutting edge, high efficiency manufacturing techniques to ensure that the project was delivered on timeand on budget. A recent reorganisation of theproduction layout at our state of the art manufacturing facility, has helped to eliminate inefficiencies and waste. This ensured an optimised workflow, having a huge impact on increasing the speed and quality of production for this project.
All the samples needed materials to be procured and produced from scratch, including the machining and programmes for all the relevant components. We were able to organise and produce all 13 samples and 7 programmes within the three day deadline, which allowed our client to pr event their comprehensive solution to the end user on schedule. For the main pr oduction and installation stage of the project, the deadline was tighter than the average of four weeks, meaning that all products would have to be completely accurate first time. Starbank turned around the production of all the required high quality products within one week. In addition ther e was a requirement for screens and partitions to complete the office refurbishment, which we sourced and deliver ed as part of the pr oject solution. Despite the pressure of tight deadlines, we managed to deliver a complete solution that was responsive, high quality and flexible in its approach to the dynamic requirements of this high profile refurbishment project.
