Team History

Winsfield Rovers was formed in 1998 out of a need to establish a team of football hungry kids ( and parents alike!! ) - to join the Football Fives League - who regularly play at Robin Park Stadium near Wigan Lancashire. Our very own Jimmy Platt took the managerial role and responsibilty on with his endearing enthusium for the game.

As new players were steadily brought into the team - Winsfield Rovers first quarter turned out to be rather good indeed - 8 out of 8 matches won - with - wait for it - a massive 85 goals, conceding a very respectable 26!! Several players have been picked out by scouts for the Academy / Centre of Excellence teams including: Wigan Atheltic /  Liverpool /  Manchester United /  Bolton & Crewe.

At one time approximately half of the team were playing at Wigan Athletics centre of excellent - quite an achievement indeed. Over the years they have taken part in several major competitions within the leagues and have been awared quite an array of cups and medals:
