MATERIALS WE FABRICATE

Softwood & Hardwood Plywood´s

Plywood is produced on a world-wide basis using a wide range of timber species including softwoods and temperate and tropical hardwoods.
Almost any species can be used, provided that it can be reliably peeled. Softwoods commonly used include spruce, pine and fir, Hardwoods used include birch and beech.

The quality of the finished plywood depends both on the quality, species and lay-up of the veneers, as well as on the glue type and bonding quality.

The majority of plywood used in the United Kingdom is produced overseas.

The permitted tolerances of plywood can vary from one national standard to another and thus if tolerances are important for specific applications these should be established at the time of ordering. Reasonable tolerances are set out in British Standards for Plywood under Part 4 of BS 6566. If these are acceptable to customer and supplier the order should state that tolerances are to be in accordance with BS 6566:part 4.

Various grades of boards are produced however they are all intended for interior applications. Particleboard manufactured in Europe and used in construction must now be specified in accordance with European standards. The UK versions of these are BS EN 312 Parts 1-7 (formally BS5669)
